About us

We've been covering Gloucestershire's major news stories since the 1920s. The business was founded back then by Jimmy Hyett, who loved the job so much that he didn't retire till he was 82!

John Hawkins, who did his training as a cub reporter with the agency, took over from Jimmy in 1972 and has been in charge ever since - building up a knowledge of Gloucestershire that's second to none.

We routinely report on the court sittings, inquests, council meetings and political events central to any community. We also cover the whole spectrum of newsworthy incidents in the county, whether momentous or light-hearted.

We discover and report on many stories of interest not only to the national press but also to our local newspapers and radio stations here in Gloucestershire.

Our coverage has ranged from the grim deeds of Fred and Rose West at their 25 Cromwell street House of Horrors to the crazy races on steep Cooper's Hill every Spring Bank Holiday when people throw themselves downhill in pursuit of Double Gloster cheeses!
